This project that presented numerous challenges. During the process, I pushed the boundaries of 3D camera movement and physical properties, demonstrating my ability to innovate and adapt to unique project requirements. In this animation, I strategically transitioned from a 3D to a 2D style to effectively communicate the working area of the laser. To optimize efficiency, I built the cutting examples section parametrically, enabling quick exports if the client desired a video focusing solely on those examples. I skillfully configured the dotted lines within the cut area and added a shaded section to illustrate the inside of the block. Animating the edge of the cut was my most significant challenge. To achieve the desired effect, I animated the laser cutting into the metal at the polygon level and baked it as an FBX sequence. The metal piece, a heart stint, featured a unique pattern that allowed for expansion and contraction. I designed the rig entirely in Xpresso and controlled it using a single null tracing a path.
